Google released a new program today. They will be short videos about the hot topics for each week. Per Google:

Every day, there are more than a billion searches for information on Google. Have you ever wondered what those searches are about—or whether what you’re searching for also happens to be on the minds of millions of others across the country? We’re introducing a new way to find out—a regular video series called the Google Beat that highlights some of the hottest searches on Google in the U.S.

The inaugural video highlighted the following searches for the week:

Hottest search last week:
  • Salmonela egg recall list
  • Jimena Navarrete – 59th annual miss universe  winner
  • Miss Philippines 2010 was also a hot search as people wanted to find out how she answered a judges question that potentially cost her the crown
  • Another hot search was related to 90th anniversary of 19th amendment – a woman’s right to vote in the U.S.
